Questions About
Plant Consulting?

Find answers to the most common questions about our services, process, and how plant consulting works.

General Questions

A plant consultant is a knowledgeable advisor who helps you select the right plants for your specific space, lifestyle, and goals — and provides guidance on how to care for them successfully. Think of it as having a personal expert who takes the guesswork out of plant ownership.

Our consultations are entirely online. You complete a detailed questionnaire about your space, light conditions, lifestyle, and goals. We review your information and deliver personalized plant recommendations and care guidance via email within 2–3 business days. A follow-up Q&A period is included with every consultation.

No. Meadows Plant Advisor is an online-only business serving clients throughout the United States. All consultations, reports, and guidance are delivered digitally. This allows us to serve clients in any city or state without geographic limitations.

We serve clients in all 50 U.S. states. Because we operate entirely online, your location within the United States does not affect our ability to provide thorough, personalized plant consulting.

Services & Process

After you submit your questionnaire, you can expect to receive your personalized plant recommendations and care guidance within 2–3 business days. Rush consultations may be available — contact us for availability.

We ask about your space dimensions, window orientation and light levels, lifestyle and schedule, whether you have pets or children, your plant care experience level, aesthetic preferences, and budget range for purchasing plants. The more detail you provide, the more tailored your recommendations will be.

Absolutely. Many clients request plant plans for their entire home or office. We can provide room-by-room recommendations in a single comprehensive consultation. Let us know in your questionnaire how many rooms or areas you want covered.

A Personalized Plant Report includes a curated list of recommended plant varieties for your specific space, detailed care instructions for each plant, a 12-month care calendar with watering and fertilization schedules, placement recommendations, and sourcing guidance for where to find each plant.

Plants & Care

Yes — low-light plant guidance is one of our most requested services. Many excellent indoor plants thrive in low-light conditions, including ZZ plants, pothos, snake plants, Chinese evergreens, and cast iron plants. We specialize in finding the best options for your specific light situation.

Absolutely. Pet-friendly plant matching is a core service. We use the ASPCA toxic plant database and other verified resources to ensure every plant we recommend for pet households is safe for cats, dogs, and other common household animals. We also advise on placement strategies to protect curious pets.

Yes — beginner plant owner consultations are a specialty. We work with complete beginners who have little to no plant experience. Our approach is clear, jargon-free, and focused on building confidence. We select plants with the best track record for new owners and provide simple, easy-to-follow care instructions.

Yes. Our Plant Problem Assessment service is designed for exactly this situation. Submit photos and a description of the symptoms, and we will analyze the likely causes — overwatering, underwatering, light deficiency, pest indicators, or root issues — and provide corrective steps.

We provide general sourcing guidance and suggest types of retailers appropriate for the plants we recommend — local nurseries, reputable online plant retailers, and big-box garden centers. We do not have paid partnerships or sponsorships with any plant retailers.
